In this basic drawing course, Participants will learn the basic techniques of observational drawing, attempting different subject matters, so they can draw with confidence and enjoy drawing. The drawings shown here are for illustration only.

Course Objectives :

Participants will learn the basic techniques of observational drawing and shading. With these techniques, they can develop confidence and venture into immediate drawing and painting classes.

Course outline (Topic Covered)

Session 1: Introduction to Drawing materials and rendering approaches.

Session 2: Learn Upside-down & Contour drawings.

Session 3: Drawing Basic Shapes & Silhouette.

Session 4: Seeing Angles and Drawing Negative Shapes

Session 5: Measuring Techniques and proportion

Session 6: Shading Forms and Chiaroscuros

Session 7: Rendering Textures and details

Session 8: Drawing from Photos

Learning Outcome

  1. Appreciate and understand the pencil medium

  2. Ability in drawing and rendering different subjects with pencil

  3. Ability in rendering various textures and forms with pencil.
